GIC ICF-Accredited Coaching Certification Program

A dynamic, holistic, and creative approach to building your coaching presence and its impact.

The Gestalt Institute of Cleveland’s (GIC) ICF-Accredited Coaching Certification Program is designed to strengthen your coaching knowledge and skills, while deepening your understanding of powerful Gestalt principles by learning the Gestalt Coaching Stance™.

Held once a year, GIC’s Coaching Certification Program will connect you with inspirational coach-trainers, networking opportunities with longtime experts in the coaching field, and deep Gestalt content over a six-month period. Through GIC’s Coaching Certification Program, graduates can receive up to 147 hours of coach training and be awarded a Gestalt Professional Certified Coach (GPCC™) certification status. In addition, graduates receive two different certificates; one to apply for coaching credentials with the International Coaching Federation (ICF)  and the other to apply for the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE).

GIC graduating coaches engage in personal and professional mastery through specialized learning tracks and interacting with a diverse set of faculty mentors from all walks of the coaching world.

GIC graduating coaches get certified — one immediate credential (GPCC) and all the training/mentoring needed to apply for two more recognized certifications (ICF and BCC).

What is the Gestalt Coaching Stance™?

Unique to GIC, the Gestalt Coaching Stance™ helps students build capacity for their coaching presence and its impact. What does this mean? It means that GIC’s Coaching Certification Program helps students.


How GIC’s Coaching Certification Program Works

GIC held our first coaching workshop in 1994, received ACTP accreditation from ICF in 2009, and became fully online during the 2019-2020 program. This Program serves the needs of a growing international participant population and is conducted in English.

GIC’s Coaching Certification Program is a mix of synchronous and asynchronous learning that meets ICF’s certification requirements. The Program includes 4 1/2 online days per month over 6 months. The Program is supplemented by readings and short videos that you complete on your own time and by specific deadlines. Additionally, students who successfully complete GIC’s Coaching Certification Program:

  • Complete 10 hours of mentor coaching provided in the program;

  • Successfully demonstrate the application of ICF and Gestalt competencies and methods in coaching practicums;

  • Complete and submit two ICF core competency and Gestalt coaching self-assessments;

  • Complete and submit two coaching visions and development plans for review with an assigned faculty mentor;

  • Submit two 30-minute taped coaching sessions and accompanying post-coaching session reflection for review with an assigned faculty mentor;

  • Complete 26 hours of individual coaching during intersession and submit verification logs;

  • Submit a written case study, and;

  • Pass an objective exam and faculty-observed coaching exam.

2025-2026 Coaching Certification Program dates - online program

This virtual learning experience will allow for real time participation with colleagues from around the globe.

We limit each cohort to 24 students each year to ensure you can maximize your participation and connection with our faculty and other students. Over 6 months, you will learn concepts, practice the techniques you learn in class, receive feedback from instructors and fellow students, and ultimately integrate these techniques into your personal and professional career.
